Below are details on the major open competitions of the year on the Ardeer Golf Club calendar. For each competition you will find the date, cost, a picture of the trophy you play for and some other additional information on each competition.
Golf Week
From Monday 28 - Friday 1 August 2008.
The event provides a week of competitive golf at the price of £30.
Monday 28th & Tuesday 29th are 18 hole strokeplay competitions where the top 8 players in 4 different categories qualify for the matchplay Knockout stages on Thursday & Friday. Categories are 1st class scratch, 1st class handicap, 2nd class scratch & 2nd class handicap.
Wednesday 30th is a 3 man Texas Scramble.
(if not playing in the golf week you can enter a team into the competition at £15 per team).
Thursday 31st Knockout Match play, additional comp for those not qualifying Monday/Tuesday 2 man stableford, combined net scores.
Friday 1st Match Play Finals, additional comp for those not qualifying, Consolation Cup.
Prizes for all winners Prize fund in the region of £2500.
MacGilchrist Cup Open Competition
Saturday 21 June 2008.
This open is restricted to players with a handicap of 18 or less.
The competition is 18 holes strokeplay and the Cup is awarded to
the best nett score. Prize vouchers are awarded for second and third
and for the best Scratch score. Entry fee is £15.
Ladies Open Tri-Am
Thursday 15 May 2008.
The competition is for ladies in teams of three and the cost is £18 per team.
Please apply to Ladies Secretary and enclose cheque and SAE by 30 April.
Senior Open
Tuesday 17 June 2008.
The
competition is open to players aged 55 and over and
is played over
18 holes strokeplay.
Prizes are awarded in age categories 55 - 62, 63 - 68 and 69
and over. The cost is £8 and entries to the Senior
convenor, accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope
should be submitted by 10 june 2008.
Junior Open - G. Ferguson Trophy
Tuesday 22 July 2008.
The competition
for the Gareth Ferguson trophy is open to boys aged
18 and under with
a handicap limit of 24.
The event counts for Ayrshire Junior merit points. Entry fee is £5.
